1.
Do you find your domain name likeable?
I
know this seems silly, but really, the name has to be liked by
everyone. Tell your friends or relatives about it. Find out what
they think about your domain name. Better yet, ask them to give
you some suggestions, and choose the one that you like most. Try
to choose a name that is easy to remember and spell, like my domain
name www.makemoneyonlinetips.com. Doesn't really matter if its
a liitle long, as long as it is catchy.
2.
Are there weird characters in your name?
Using dashes, underscores, tildes, and other characters will only
makes your url address worse. They're harder to remember, type,
and clumsy in spoken communication. "Visit my website at
My dash Cash dash Secrets dot com" is not a powerful marketing
message. However, the invitation to stop by mycashsecrets.com
would be more accepting.
3.
Does you domain name have the ".com" extension?
Try to get a .com for the extension of your domain name as this
is seen as the defacto standard in the internet business. Do not
use .net or .org as these extensions are usually associated with
non-commercial organizations. Also, try not use a country extension
at the end of .com (such as .com.uk or .com.sg) even if the website
originates from that country. This way, your website would sound
more "international" and can gain a wider pool of audience.
4.
Should important keywords be included in the domain name?
The purpose of having related keywords in your domain is for search
engines to spider your domain name and rank you higher in their
sites. You might be surprise that big players such as Google takes
the domain name into consideration when deciding what the rank
of the website should be. Don't get me wrong, content still plays
an important part here but having a keyword filled domain name
would up the chances of your website being ranked high in search
engines. A good example would be www.cakerecipes.com.
5.
Wouldn't it be better if you add the benefits to your domain name?
This would make your domain name stand out even more! How about
www.deliciouscakerecipes.com?
